Check the temperature before you pack, you may need to pack for all seasons - summer clothes for the day and winter warmers for after dark. The desert climate can see the mercury drop below freezing over the colder months.
A car would allow you to explore more of the surrounding landscapes - lava flows, mountains, Joshua forests, water-carved canyons, limestone caverns and vast dunes disappearing into the horizon.
A local market store can arrange delivery of supplies whilst the house provides larder basics such as seasonings, oils, drinking water - and a welcome bottle of wine.”
